Klima-Bündnis – Climate Alliance
Climate Alliance is the world's largest network of cities dedicated to climate protection and the only one that sets concrete goals: Every Climate Alliance municipality has committed itself to reducing its greenhouse gas emissions by ten percent every five years. The network promotes cooperation with indigenous peoples, carries out awareness-raising campaigns and develops instruments for climate protection planning.
Climate Alliance Switzerland is the association of the Swiss members of the European Climate Alliance. Its current 18 members represent around 15 percent of the Swiss population with a good 1.3 million inhabitants. Zurich joined the two networks in 1993 and is very actively involved in them. In addition to international cooperation to solve global climate problems, the reasons for joining were the exchange of experience and participation in concrete projects (Prokura+, Bio Fuel Cities).
