Zurich meets Zurich 2020
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the "Zurich meets Berlin" festival, which was initially planned for 2020, had to be postponed by one year. Instead, we focused for once on Zurich itself in order to strengthen the image of a living cultural city even under pandemic-related restrictions.
Integrated into the Zurich Theatre Spektakel, the urban development of Zurich dedicated a selected project to the urban population as part of "Zurich meets Zurich": William Forsythe's "City of Abstracts" (2000). During the installation of the renowned American choreographer, those present and their movements are filmed by a camera with integrated video software. The audience's live actions are projected onto a screen as a delayed, non-synchronized image. As a result, the figures merge into a dance of stretched and sinuous forms. Everyday gestures become a performance. The mobile video installation, which moved through Zurich on a truck for ten days, invited the visitors to play with it.
