You can pre-book the date for your wedding at the online service desk. Within one week we will send you detailed information about the documents to be submitted. If we already have your documents for verification, you can only make your reservation by calling +41 44 412 31 50.

Foreign nationals

If you are a foreign national, you may not be registered in the Swiss Civil Register yet. Please pre-book your wedding date at the online service desk or fill in the contact form «marriage for foreign nationals» so we can inform you about the documents to be submitted within the following days. All necessary documents for the legal formalities must be received by us in full at least two months before your wedding date.

Deadlines & time limits

The legal formalities have to be completed at the civil registry office of your place of residence at the latest one month before your wedding. After the successful completion of the legal formalities, you can get married within three months; we can also officiate your wedding right on the spot at the service desk. Marriage outside of Zurich for Zurich residents

If you live in the city of Zurich but you would like to get married in another city, the Zurich civil registry office is in charge of the legal formalities. After completing the legal formalities, we will issue a marriage license for you. With this document, you can get married in another municipality (in Switzerland).
