An evaluation of the Swiss Labour Force Survey (SAKE) for the city of Zurich with selected comparisons beyond the city
The Swiss Labour Force Survey SAKE, the largest regular sample survey in Switzerland, annually collects facts on various labour market and other economic and social issues.
This report focuses on the topic of foreigners and migration. On the one hand, some important labour market and other socio-economic issues were analysed with regard to differences between groups of foreigners. In addition, specific SAKE questions on migration issues, some of which were only asked in 2008 or 2009, were analyzed in more detail.
Expert survey on the future of the Zurich labour market
In December 2007, Urban Development Zurich surveyed 21 experts from employers' and employees' associations, personnel and research departments, universities and administrative units on their opinions on future employment growth by sector, occupations and sectors with a shortage of specialists as well as on the future change in the space required for jobs in the city of Zurich.
The results show that despite the current turbulence in the financial sector, the Zurich labour market is expected to be highly dynamic for the next five to ten years, first and foremost services for companies and the healthcare sector. Personnel shortages are located in engineers, technicians, computer scientists and in the healthcare sector. The space requirement is likely to remain stable.
