Networking National and Local
Networking and partner organisations
Integration is a cross-sectional task. It always concerns a wide variety of places and a wide variety of topics. Their practice depends on global developments and national policies as well as on cantonal decisions and local implementation. As a competence centre and coordination office, the Promotion of Integration of the City of Zurich is therefore in regular contact with partner organisations. In doing so, it fosters professional exchange, carries out networking work and is committed to the interests of the city of Zurich and its population.
Important partners include the following:
The Federal Commission for Migration (CMM) carries out groundwork at national level on various topics of integration work. It publishes recommendations and twice a year the journal Terra Cognita, which is dedicated to a different thematic focus in each issue. In addition, the EKA has been responsible for its implementation since the start of the national integration loan.
The State Secretariat for Migration SEM is the coordination office for integration issues within the Federal Administration. In 2006, for example, it published a comprehensive report on the integration problems in Switzerland and prepared the implementation of possible measures. On the SEM website you will also find the legal basis for integration work as well as the corresponding regulations and instructions.
The Tripatite Agglomeration Conference TAK is the political platform of the Confederation, cantons, cities and municipalities for a common agglomeration policy in Switzerland. Immigration and integration policy is an important topic on which the TAK has already written various reports, most recently in 2009 under the title "Further Development of Swiss Integration Policy".
The Office for Integration Issues of the Canton of Zurich coordinates the issues of integration at cantonal level.
The AOZ is responsible for the implementation of asylum and refugee care in the city of Zurich and in some municipalities of the canton. It is a competence centre for migration issues and works closely with the Department of Social Affairs of the City of Zurich . This is of great importance for the practice of integration work in the city of Zurich, among other things due to the community work and specialist bodies such as the Infodona.
Interreligious cooperation
The promotion of integration of the City of Zurich maintains a regular cooperation with the religious communities and is in active exchange with the Zurich Forum of Religions ZFR and with the Association of Islamic Organizations in Zurich VIOZ. On the occasion of the Islamic fasting month of Ramadan, there is also a reception of the imams by the mayor.
