Swiss Association of Cities
The Swiss Association of Cities SSV was founded in 1897 and today has 130 members. He is committed to the interests of urban spaces in politics. According to Article 50 of the Federal Constitution, the Confederation is obliged to take special account of the interests of cities and agglomerations in its decisions. The Association of Cities participates in the federal consultation procedures, participates in expert commissions and maintains regular contacts with the Federal Administration and Parliament and its commissions.
The City of Zurich has been a member of the Association of Cities since its foundation and was last the host of the Association of Cities in 2010. Zurich is represented by the Mayor on the board of the SSV. Due to its size, the city often plays a pioneering role and actively shapes Swiss urban policy. In particular, Zurich is committed to increasing the perception of the big cities at the federal level.
