Socio-spatial aspects of planning and construction
Socio-spatial aspects of planning and construction
With the City of Zurich's commitment to sustainability, the consideration of social aspects is a permanent task for the administration. In addition to economic performance and ecological concerns, it is always important to include social aspects.
The concerns of social urban development must therefore also be taken into account in the sovereign spatial planning processes – i.e. led by the administration of the City of Zurich. Often, however, the socio-spatial concerns are not easy to grasp and, in contrast to architectural-urban planning topics, less concrete and vivid.
Against this background , this work aid provides an overview. It describes twelve socio-spatial concerns and contains three checklists divided into levels or phases of spatial planning. The checklists refer - with an increasing degree of concretization - to "higher-level planning", to "area developments" and to "concrete construction projects".
The content is based on an analysis of existing fundamentals. The work aid structures the subject area and can thus be a support for all those who work in spatial urban development processes.
The work aid emerged from a process between the Urban Development of Zurich and the Department of Social Urban Life of the Social Services.
