International tech companies are increasingly settling in the city of Zurich. Google, Microsoft, IBM, Zalando, Facebook, Hitachi – they are all attracted by the conditions and quality of life that the city of Zurich offers. This offers opportunities for the city, but also risks. The corporations bring jobs and tax revenues, but they also fish for the talents and pay top salaries that many other companies cannot compete with.
Tobias Straumann, Privatdozent at the Department of History at the University of Zurich, explains in his input presentation the history of technology companies in the city of Zurich and how their role has changed over the years.
Afterwards, Anna Schindler (Director of Urban Development City of Zurich), Dorian Selz (Co-Founder and CEO Squirro), Arijana Walcott (Founder and Managing Partner Dartlabs), Patrick Warnking (Country Director Google Switzerland) and Roger Wüthrich-Hasenböhler (Chief Digital Officer Swisscom) will discuss the influence of the technology sector for Zurich as a business location and labour market and what the future could bring.
The evening will be moderated by Kathrin Hönegger (SRF).
The event will also be broadcast as a live stream. No registration is required. The live stream can be found at https://youtu.be/79aT8azHiUs.
