After your arrival in Zurich, there are a few things you will need to consider to make sure that your stay is organised from the start. For example, you will have to inform numerous offices and businesses of your change of address and have new identity cards issued. To register, please contact the district office of your residential area.
Please note the following points in particular: Newcomers must register within 14 days at the district office of their residential area. For the registration, you must bring the following:
Passport or identity card («Heimatausweis» for Swiss nationals)
Foreigner’s identity card (if available)
The formal guarantee of a residence permit (if available)
Registration fees (varies according to region, max. CHF 120)
