Social developments and technological innovations are changing shopping behaviour and having an impact on the city's centres. That is why the Zurich Urban Development Department deals with "trade in transition" and has developed scenarios and theses for the retail trade and the centres in the city of Zurich. Recommendations for action for the public sector and the retail trade have been developed for the Metropolitan Area of Zurich.
