I am grateful to be able to live and work in Switzerland and to have found my new home in Zurich. My motivation to get involved in the advisory board is manifold. Thanks to my job, my language skills and my social network, I personally managed to integrate quickly and easily – but I am aware that not all foreigners are so lucky. While I have set myself the personal goal of even learning Swiss German, for many residents with a migration background, dealing with authorities, looking for a job or participating in social life is a great challenge due to language barriers. That is why I would like to improve access opportunities and promote dialogue between the population of Zurich and migrants. It is also important to me to give more visibility to the positive contribution that foreigners make in our city: be it in the cultural sector, where first-class artists work without a Swiss passport, or in the business location, which is characterised by "expats". I see my role on the advisory board as a mediator. It is a matter close to my heart to bring my fellow human beings, who, like me, were not born or raised in Switzerland, closer to respect and understanding of Swiss culture and tradition and to sensitize them to the expectations towards them. I would also like to address integration policy problems and issues, even if they are controversial.
