Meeting of the City Council with the Limmattal municipalities
 

On October 4, 2022, the members of the City Council met with representatives from the executives of the Limmattal municipalities. Together they visited the new Swisslife Arena. As a sports facility at the gateway to the Limmattal, it is of particular significance for the region. Following the tour, the participants were able to exchange views on various topics such as water supply and flood protection.

Uppsala as a guest in Zurich
 

On October 5, 2022, Mayor Corine Mauch welcomed a delegation from Uppsala with the STUNS Foundation (Sustainable Growth in Uppsala) in the Stadthaus. The aim of the visit is to get to know Zurich and its strong innovation cluster - especially in the healthcare sector - better. Jan Knutsson, the Swedish Ambassador to Switzerland, accompanied the delegation led by Göran Enander, Governor of the Uppsala Region.

Delegation visit from Tampere
 

On October 6, 2022, the City of Zurich, together with the Association of Municipal Presidents of the Canton of Zurich, received a delegation from the Finnish region of Pirkanmaa. The delegation was composed of representatives of politics and administration as well as the University of Tampere. The visit was organized by the ZHAW. The aim of the exchange was to give an insight into the federal system of Switzerland. Of particular interest were the role and tasks of the local level as well as the forms of cooperation between municipalities and cities.

Humanitarian aid to Niger

In the last rainy season, torrential rains washed away most of the freshly sown crops and with them the future seeds in Niger in the Dosso region. The seeds that withstood the rains have been dried out by the subsequent extreme drought during the ripening phase. The population is thus left without a harvest and new seeds. It is estimated that nearly 3.8 million people have been affected. With the city's contribution of 100,000 Swiss francs, around 1,200 food packages (2 packages for each of the 600 families) and 120 seed packages can be distributed. The contribution for the disaster relief will be transferred to Swissaid.
