Safe Cycling in Graz
 

During a two-day visit to Graz, a delegation consisting of Mayor Corine Mauch, City Councillor Karin Rykart and municipal experts was able to gain an in-depth insight into the strategy and implementation of the cycling policy of Austria's «cycling capital». For years, the City of Graz has been considered a model city in terms of cycling. Furthermore, the conditions and challenges in Graz are very similar to those in Zurich: increasing number of bicycle accidents, a tram network and the topography (elevations in the city center). The City of Zurich has set itself the goal of improving bicycle safety and wants to support this goal within the framework of a temporary cooperation with Graz. The foreign affairs of the City of Zurich offer support to departments to learn from pioneer cities through temporary city cooperations.

International exchange on the topic of undocumented migrants

On 10-11 June 2021, the City of Zurich hosted an international C-MISE city dialogue on irregular migrants. The online meeting included representatives from 14 cities and focused on the efforts that Zurich has made in recent years to improve the living conditions of undocumented migrants. One of the main topics was the Zurich City Card. Mayor Corine Mauch gave an overview of the measures that Zurich is taking to improve access to municipal services. Among those, two pilot projects in the areas of health and social welfare made the greatest impression on the participants at the conference.

International Development Cooperation – Module B, Project Contributions

The International Development Cooperation scheme of the City of Zurich is within the responsibility of Urban Development of the City of Zurich since 2021.

As regards the Module B, the project contributions, 2021 is a transitional year and the City of Zurich accepted only a limited number of projects proposal. In the future, project contributions will be given on a forward-looking submission base. The Advisory Commission of the City Council has recommended 50 project proposals. Based on that Mayor Corine Mauch has approved project contributions of a value of 3,47 million Swiss Francs.
