As part of the third editition of the project «Stadt der Zukunft», the Office for Urban Development studied the external image of the City of Zurich and its role as a cooperation partner and actor at the national level. The panel discussion at the end of the project «Einblicke von aussen» took place on March 15, 2021 at the cinema Kosmos and is now available online.
Moderated by Sebastian Ramspeck, the conversation between Mayor Corine Mauch and the former Mayor of St. Gallen, Thomas Scheitlin, National Councilor and Zurich local Alfred Heer as well as ETH professor David Kaufmann took place under the title «Zürich's Stimme in Bern». One key take away all participants agreed on was the aspect of common action:  only together cities are strong vis-à-vis the federal government, only together cities will have an impact at the national level, only together will their concerns be taken into account.

In a webinar held by the «GIS-Zentrum Stadt Zürich», Lothar Eysn, Head of the Innovation and KIT of the Stadtvermessung Wien presented the project «Wien gibt Raum» to experts of the City of Zurich. The project creates new opportunities for an innovative and participatory use of public space. An important part of life takes place in public spaces, where diverse interests and needs collide. «Wien gibt Raum» supports the authorization and management of objects and activities in public spaces. An important basis for this is the technical registration of the existing infrastructure in public spaces through onsite inspection.
Lothar Eysn presented the Vienna-wide mobile mapping campaign, the resulting viewer «Kappazunder» and some practical applications. The exchange served as a source of inspiration for the further development of Zurich's project «Strassenraum 3D», in which a similar digital representation of the street space and all public spaces was created.
